Mentoring Excellence with AKLTG..

Went for a “Mentoring for Excellence” workshop conducted by Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group. The workshop was really interesting with the speaker having superb speech, superb entertaining mood and best of all, its quite useful and relevant. Its a bit too short because its only a half a day workshop. Its one of the best workshops around. I have learnt things like “Highlight the POSITIVE, then the NEGATIVE”. In life, we usually look at negative side of things first, then the positive. Have you ever scolded your children for the negative things that they had done, overlooking the positive side of it. If you haven’t, good for you. Well, I am always doing that and after the training, I tell myself, I am going to change that attitude of mine. Towards the end of the workshop, the trainer also told us about listening. People usually likes to just cut in while people are talking. Sometimes, people just want to talk, as they themselves, already know the solutions to their problems. The trainer very interestingly, brought out a metal bowl like thingy (those that monk used to ask for food in the olden days pugilistic movies). He just knocked on the bowl and out came a ringing sound. He told us to listen to the sound till its totally inaudible. After nothing can be heard, he told the class, actually, the bowl is still vibrating. With that, he closed his workshop by saying, “Give this bowl a chance to talk, till its last vibration”. The speaker is Ramesh Muthusamy. Here’s a little video clip in his superb presentation skills. Video Clip
