Went for DDI Talent Assessment for 1 day. Located at Changi. I was given a stack of background notes to read. So I was busy trying to figure out the notes content and what this assessment thing is all about. Maybe company want to send me for Singapore Idol or something. Reach the training centre in the morning and was briefed. The facilitator was damn stern siah !!! Scary. The whole training only have 6 people, including me. 2 from ST Kinetics, 2 From ST AERO, 1 ST ELECTRONICS (thats me), and 1 from ST MARINE. The whole story goes like this. You are suppose to role play yourself as a director of a company. There are alot of problems and your suppose to resolve the problems or to give solutions by replying all the emails you have in your inbox. On and off, there will be people that will be scheduled to talk with you. People like subordinates, vendors, customers .etc. At the end of the day, you will present a product launch presentation to the CEO. Its really and interesting experience but, I seriously sit in that room the whole day, doing work !!!! (each person is assigned to a personal room, much like what a director has). However, i found a flaw. Their role play isn’t that real. THe customers are not actually those that shout but very mild type. The CEO is not the demanding sort but also quite like a normal staff. They should portrait a demanding CEO because its a listed company. Nevertheless, its an experience. They will be giving me the assessment report in 2 weeks time to tell me how I fare for the 8 leadership competencies that ST Engineering had come up with. They want to see I can become the next Prime Minister or not lah. Hahahahaha.
