Cohabitation ! This is the topic of the day. It was sparked by the article in the papers. Is cohabitation a sign of degradation in our moral values ? Is cohabitation a NO NO in todays society ? Well here are my views.
Cohabitation in my point of view is the TRIAL period of any marriage. Like all the software that we buy, we will always have this mentality to want to try out the software before committing our dollars into the software. So what do we do ? We download the triali version of the software (30 days evaluation usuallly). Well cohabitation is kind of similar to this software theory. Before engaging in a marriage (which last for a lifetime), a trial is carried out to see if two person can live together. This could indeed help a couple in their relationship to see whether this “trial” is successful or not before they engage in tying the nuptial knot. However, there is always a downside of all things. The problems with cohabitation is that either party might be too comfortable with this “no strings attached” kind of lifestyle, so much so that the picture of marriage becomes left half painted. The other issues of cohabitation is of course its sexual nature, which I personally think its a major reason why some people are very resistive to this practice. In conclusion, cohabitation in my opinion, strictly my opinion only, can be a good practice if it is taken maturely and both parties will take responsibility in their actions. However, if cohabitation is not taken maturely, it will create more problems than it is suppose to resolve.
